A quelques mois de la sortie de Windows 10, Microsoft a dévoilé les différentes variantes de son prochain système d’exploitation. On pouvait s’y attendre : on retrouve une version Home destinée au grand public, et deux versions professionnelles. Auxquelles s’ajoutent des déclinaisons mobiles, destinées à faciliter le portage d’applications iOS ou Android vers Windows 10. Par contre, l’éditeur n’indique pas de date exacte quant à la sortie de l’OS, ni de tarif.
Versions grand public
La version principale de Windows 10 sera, comme d’habitude, la variante grand public, Home. On la retrouvera sur la majorité des PC, ultrabooks et tablettes commercialisés à partir de la rentrée. Côté fonctionnalités, rien ne change par rapport aux préversions : les « apps universelles » telles que Office, Maps ou encore Calendrier y seront intégrées, ainsi que l’assistant virtuel Cortana, le navigateur Edge et Microsoft Hello, un système d’identification biométrique.
Les terminaux mobiles, en ce qui les concernent, verront Windows Phone être remplacé par la Windows 10 Mobile. Cette version supporte lesdites applications universelles, lequelles, rappelons-le, ont été pensées tant pour les appareils de grandes tailles que pour les petits gabarits, tant pour le clavier-souris que pour le tactile. Pourquoi donc une version spécifiquement mobile ? Cette variante permettra le portage des apps Android et iOS vers Windows, en hébergeant le sous-système Astoria. Autre différence : Internet Explorer disparaît de cette version, faisant place nette à Edge.
Editions professionnelles
Pour les professionnels, Windows 10 se déclinera en deux versions, la première destinée aux TPE-PME et aux entreprises ayant adopté une approche BYOD, la seconde aux grands comptes. Windows 10 Pro reprend donc la structure de Home, en y ajoutant des services professionnels, tels que Windows Update for Business, des gestionnaires d’applications et de terminaux, la sécurité des données sensibles, le support à distance.
Quant aux grandes entreprises, Windows 10 Enterprise reprend peu ou prou les mêmes fonctions que l’édition Pro, en les adaptant aux besoins à grande échelle : gestion de flottes, consoles administrateurs, sécurité et surtout le Long Term Servicing Branch que nous évoquions lors de la conférence Ignite.
L’aspect mobile n’est pas oublié sur la variante entreprise, puisque Microsoft annonce également Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise. Cette déclinaison reprend les composantes des deux versions précités, en y ajoutant une dimension… mobile. On retouve les mêmes fonctions que Pro et Enterprise, déclinées en 9’ et moins : gestion d’applications, de périphériques, des mises à jour, etc. Il s’adresse, selon l’éditeur, autant aux entreprises ayant déployé une flotte d’appareils qu’à celles ayant fait le choix du BYOD.
